In Mutual Drip and Wax Play, I seek to discover how an everyday object used to provide warmth and light of a physical form of energy can be designed to reflect the warmth and light of queer kink, while also providing its original function.
In Mutual Drip, I used inflated metal to create bases matching candle holders, which caused them to stand on an angle to each other, creating an embracing stance where the two structures are leaning on each other for support. The two candle holders drip on each other when the candles are lit. This sensual allegory and the contrast between the rough surface of the metal and the warm candle light aims to portray all aspects of queer intimacy: resistance, sexuality, sentiment, connection…
